How It All Began

Living in Madrid, Spain, from 2021 to 2024 changed the way I think about life.

I moved there expecting to experience a new country and culture, but I left with a different understanding of how I wanted to spend my everyday life. I loved the slower pace, the long meals, coffee with friends, walks without rushing, and the reminder that life is about more than constantly being productive.

While living in Spain, I signed up for a ceramics class for the first time since high school. Sitting at the wheel again reminded me how much I missed creating something with my hands. For those few hours, I wasn’t thinking about my phone, my responsibilities, or what came next. I was simply present.

That experience reminded me that the things we loved as children don’t stop being meaningful when we grow up. Sometimes they are simply waiting for us to return to them, and sometimes the best discoveries are the ones we haven’t made yet.

Little Hobby Library grew from that idea: a place to collect hobbies, stories, and little adventures that make life feel richer.

Today, I’m continuing that journey in England, exploring a new chapter and finding the small moments that slowly make a place feel like home.

Why the Little Things Matter

To me, hobbies are more than ways to fill time. They are a way to reconnect with curiosity, creativity, and the parts of ourselves that can get lost in the busyness of everyday life.

Sometimes that looks like journaling, reading, coloring, or working on a puzzle. Other times it means exploring a new place, finding a cozy café, trying a new recipe, or learning something completely unfamiliar. These moments may seem small, but they are often the things that make life feel meaningful.

I don’t think we need one perfect hobby or a life that looks a certain way. I think we are meant to stay curious, try new things, and collect experiences that help us feel more like ourselves.

Why a Library?

I’ve always loved libraries because they are places of curiosity and discovery. You can wander the shelves, revisit old favorites, and find something unexpected that captures your attention.

I think life works the same way.

Little Hobby Library is a collection of the things that make life feel meaningful: hobbies we return to, books that stay with us, places we discover, and stories from the different chapters of our lives.

You don’t have to explore every shelf. Simply follow your curiosity and see what you discover.

A Little About Me

I’m Lucia, an American who has always been curious about the world and the little things that make life meaningful.

After living in Spain for two years, returning to San Diego, and now starting a new chapter in England, I’ve learned that creating a life you love is less about having everything figured out and more about staying open to new experiences.

Little Hobby Library is where I share the hobbies, stories, and little adventures that make each chapter of life feel special.
